Fintan Whelan Canvas Prints
The paintings of Dublin-born artist Fintan Whelan are immediately recognisable thanks to his use of oils, varnishes and pigments to create immediate, textural abstracts. Currently residing in Germany where his studio inhabits an old church organ factory, Fintan Whelan has travelled widely and his canvases have been exhibited in Europe, Australia and the USA. He is currently artist in residence at the Chelsea Design Centre in London.

Fintan produces large-scale abstracts with oils, varnishes and pigments on canvas. He uses a variety of pouring, tilting and tipping techniques to create abstract compositions that resemble landscapes and human forms. Fintan Whelan's method of painting is very much characterised by an immediacy of process and an urgency of vision, which he has been developing over several years. Despite the use of chance in his work, Whelan's technique involves constant assessment, contemplation and exploration of pigments and their configurations, combined with varnishes, oils and a variety of materials.
